Thanks to all who forwarded the letter from Howard University’s President:

“April 19, 2019

Dear Howard University Family,

Our campus is a beautiful, sacred space that provides comfort and, in many ways, sanctuary in a place that feels more like a second home than merely an academic institution. The Upper Quadrangle, commonly referred to as the Yard, is a treasured site of many auspicious occasions. Our Commencement Ceremony is the ultimate long walk that symbolizes a sacred tradition, symbolic of every student’s matriculation. The Howard University community wants to see this area remain pristine and symbolic of all that Howard University represents.

We are aware of the concerns regarding dog walking across campus. Howard is a private institution nestled in the heart of an urban city and we’ve shared a long-standing positive relationship with our evolving community for more than 150 years, which we look forward to continuing in the future. “Dear PoPville,

I had a bad experience with my (well-behaved, chill) dog on Howard University Sunday around noon. We were walking through campus when a group of students started screaming at us that dogs weren’t welcome on campus. One girl yelled, “This a closed campus, I’m going to call the cops on you.” The students continued to scream at us and follow us for around five minutes.

Is there a policy against dogs at Howard? Read More

A reader reports from Georgia and Girard Street, NW around 8am though not clear when the shots fired actually occurred:

“5 cop cars. Street taped off, including a business across Georgia.”

Looks like at least 11 shell markings. Another reader reports:

“I heard about a dozen rounds fired overnight on the 700 block of Gresham Place. It’s currently closed as MPD is investigating.”

From the owners:

“Sweet Pea’s Classic Soul Food is hoping for a summer 2017 opening. We will be offering delicious classic southern cuisine, desserts and beverages made with care and quality ingredients. It will be primarily take-out due space constraints but we hope to offer a small counter and stools for a few of our customers.”

This is the former home to Zippin Chicken, recently reopened nearby, and a tattoo parlor. Updates as they get closer to opening!

Thanks to WayneMan Comedy for sending: “Have you heard about the restaurant that opened in Mama Chuy’s old location? They may have launched this weekend.”

Back in 2014 we learned that the building was for sale for $649,999.

Mama Chuy opened up back in December 2011. We spoke about this location’s closure and delivery from a location much further north back in February.
