Thanks to Rifka for sending: “Banana Republic in Georgetown had its last day Saturday. Shop was almost completely empty and they didn’t have info about if they planned to have a store in DC in the futures, since the Penn Quarter store closed last year.–”

Looks like Banana Republic fans will have to head to Friendship Heights just over the border in Maryland at 5430 Wisconsin Ave.

Update from Councilmember Brooke Pinto: “Monumental Sports owns this space & decided not to renew McD’s lease. New use should be announced soon. But, it’s important to ensure that our residents & biz in Chinatown feel safe & can operate w/o risk of incident.”

Sad new from the Washington Post yesterday:

“The Washington Post will stop publishing its stand-alone print magazine, one of the last of its kind in the country and which has been published under different names for more than six decades, the newspaper’s executive editor, Sally Buzbee, announced Wednesday.

…restaurant reviews and the crossword puzzle will continue to appear in print. Popular features such as Date Lab will not continue.

The magazine is distributed with copies of the Sunday paper. Its last issue will publish on Dec. 25
