D’Vines opened up in Columbia Heights way back in 2008.

Ed. Note: Their phone number listed is now disconnected.

“Dear PoPville,

Went to D’Vines last Tuesday and the shelves were pretty bare. The clerk said they were closing last Thursday, but didn’t know anything more. Their website says nothing.” (more…)

Thanks to Katie for passing on the sad news from Qualia:

“We are sad to inform our Petworth friends that our pop-up bar in @commonwealthcantina will be closing with March 18 being our last day of operations. And after much consideration, we have decided to shelve plans to rebuild and reopen the shop at 3917 Georgia Ave.

We don’t know if this will mark the end of our presence in the neighborhood that birthed us or a prelude to a new phase. (more…)

515 Florida Ave, NW

Ed. Note: In the begining of January we learned that Thai X-ing moved back to their original location in a Row House on Florida Ave.

Update: I’m told Sticky Fingers will remain in Columbia Heights “at least another 6 months”.

“Dear PoPville,

I noticed a new “for lease” banner hanging outside of Sticky Fingers at 1370 Park Rd NW. A quick Google search brought up a “restaurant for lease” listing for that address. Back in the day, this was a popular hangout for the coffee and laptop crowd. (more…)

229 Pennsylvania Ave, SE

Thanks to Frank for sending yesterday: “My favorite annual question. is Cap Lounge finally returning?! Lights on. Paper coming down?”

Matt writes: “Sadly… the dream is dead. The Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI) bought the Capitol Lounge.”

Thought there is an ounce of hope just in from another reader: “I’m told if they reopen it won’t be in that location anyway. Not quite dead yet.”

Stay tuned.

Capitol Lounge closed after 26 years back in September 2020.

3200 M Street, NW at Wisconsin

Thanks to Rifka for sending: “Banana Republic in Georgetown had its last day Saturday. Shop was almost completely empty and they didn’t have info about if they planned to have a store in DC in the futures, since the Penn Quarter store closed last year.–”

Looks like Banana Republic fans will have to head to Friendship Heights just over the border in Maryland at 5430 Wisconsin Ave.
