Saxbys becomes Coffee Republic

3500 O Street, NW

Saxbys website said: “In 2006, after 85 years in operation, Sugar’s Campus Store closed its iconic doors, creating an opportunity for Saxbys to make its own mark on Georgetown”. End of another era.

Coffee Republic has now opened in the space:

You can see Coffee Republic’s Rockville menu here.

“Coffee Republic is a premier coffee shop that has been serving the finest quality coffee since 2003. Our mission is to provide our customers with a rich and flavorful coffee experience that is unmatched by any other coffee shop.

Our passion for coffee is evident in every cup we serve. We source the best coffee beans from around the world and roast them in-house to bring out their unique flavors and aromas. Our skilled baristas are trained to craft the perfect cup of coffee, using traditional techniques and modern brewing methods.

At Coffee Republic, we believe that coffee should be enjoyed in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our cozy and inviting cafes are the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee.

We also offer a wide range of freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, and other snacks to complement your coffee. We source our ingredients from local farmers and bakeries to ensure that our food is not only delicious but also sustainable and ethical.

Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just looking for a great cup of joe, we invite you to stop by one of our cafes and experience the Coffee Republic difference.”

One more closing to report in Dupont thanks to Andrea:

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
