19th and L Street, NW (former Corner Bakery space)

My goodness and praise be!!

Thanks to Amy and Ibad for sending: “Mikey & Mel’s is FINALLY open!!”

Amy writes: “Stopped by today to dine in with coworkers and the staff were great, but had to tell folks it was a 30-45 minute wait for the food, which grew to an hour plus as we were getting ready to leave. Their ordering kiosks are convenient but take a bit of time because they have a TON of options. While we waited for our food, I went to the pickle bar and got a mix of dill, half sour and full sour. All tasted great. (more…)

19th and L Street, NW

Thanks to Jon for sending the latest from the coming Mikey and Mel’s coming downtown:

“Workers were installing new signage today for Mikey & Mel’s at 19th and L NW (the former Corner Bakery space).

FWIW, I asked one of the workers when they expected to open and he simply said “soon”.” (more…)

More movement on 18th Street, NW. This time a bit further south from yesterday. Lloyd’s was located at 1917 18th St, NW. The plywood recently went up and the permits say that the proposed use will be a restaurant. Anyone happen to hear what type of restaurant is going in here? I’ll be sure to update as this project develops.

When I walked by this weekend the space was looking pretty nice but I didn’t know if the Deli was reopening or a new spot was coming in. Yesterday afternoon The Triangle posted the scoop:

“G & J Deli at 317 K Street NW is closing and will reopen in several weeks as Henry’s Soul Cafe.”

Also interesting to note is that Henry’s Soul Cafe is currently located at 1704 U St., NW. I’ll have to check to see if they are moving or just opening up a second location.
