My goodness and praise be!!
Thanks to Amy and Ibad for sending: “Mikey & Mel’s is FINALLY open!!”

Amy writes: “Stopped by today to dine in with coworkers and the staff were great, but had to tell folks it was a 30-45 minute wait for the food, which grew to an hour plus as we were getting ready to leave. Their ordering kiosks are convenient but take a bit of time because they have a TON of options. While we waited for our food, I went to the pickle bar and got a mix of dill, half sour and full sour. All tasted great.

On to the food – I ordered the Mikey sized corned beef sandwich, a latke, black and white cookie, and a Dr Browns cherry soda. They ended up selling out of the latke and the cookie, but subbed in fries at my request. The corned beef was delicious – good flavor and good fat content, and the brown mustard was perfect. One coworker got a corned beef Reuben which he said was amazing and the onion rings were great. Crunchy, well-fried, not greasy. Other coworker got a massive bowl of matzoh ball soup and a sweet potato knish. She said the knish dough wasn’t traditional (more like a phyllo dough) but still tasty.

They definitely will get slammed, given the location and novelty – not a lot of delis in this area – but I think/hope they’ll be successful.”
