Adams Morgan

1750 Columbia Road, NW

From an email:

“Capital Checkers & Chess is on the move. After four years in Adams Morgan our building is being sold and our lease will not be renewed. We are currently looking for a new space in the district (and would appreciate any leads!).

Our time in AdMo has been a wonderful experience – we were able to meet dozens of new players, expand our chess network, and regularly host tournaments. To thank the community we are hosting a goodbye party on Feb 21st at 6pm at 1750 Columbia Rd. We would appreciate if you can help us spread the word! We will have food, games, and souvenirs. T shirts will be for sale as well. (more…)

✨ Meet Axel, Your New Best Friend in Chill Mode! ✨

If you’re looking for a dog who’s as easygoing as Sunday morning, look no further—Axel is the guy for you. His foster mom calls him “the easiest dog we’ve ever fostered,” and it’s easy to see why. He’s calm, loyal, and the perfect mix of sweet and goofy. Whether you’re binge-watching your favorite show or enjoying a quiet evening, Axel will be right there with you, soaking up scratches and loving life.

This laid-back boy loves his crate. He sleeps peacefully through the night, happily hangs out in his crate when you’re away, and even entertains himself with his favorite chew toys. But when it’s time for a walk, Axel’s all in! He’s a champion sniffer (he insists on sniffing everything) and is a total pro on a leash—no pulling, no stress, just calm strolls.

Axel is a social butterfly with a gentle soul. He adores meeting new people and will charm everyone with his sweet and goofy nature. He’s a quick learner, too! Axel already knows “sit,” “stay,” and “no,” and he’s completely housetrained. Basically, he’s got the whole good-boy package wrapped up and ready to go.

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, lovable companion, Axel is your guy. Don’t miss out—apply today and make this charming pup a part of your family! 🐾
