Jackie wrote in and is getting her letter back this weekend:
“It was written by my paternal grandma (who just celebrated her 90th birthday). I cannot believe this letter was found! The person is incredible for going to these lengths to return it to me. I can’t believe I’m able to get this letter back. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
A couple years ago, I randomly took a copy of Ann Patchett’s “State of Wonder” out of a Little Free Library in NW. I have my favorites but I can’t be sure exactly which one, or exactly when this was. Probably in Mt. Pleasant or Columbia Heights, circa 2024. Today I flipped through for the first time and discovered this beautiful handwritten letter from a grandmother to her granddaughter, Jackie, dated August 23, 2003, tucked inside.
It says: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Our Little Free Library, which sits in front of the Alma Thomas House at 1530 15th St NW, has been featured a few times on PoPville, and we really appreciate the Logan Circle neighborhood’s enthusiasm for the library and for our curation efforts. What we don’t appreciate is the periodic vandalism. A few years ago, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
On Saturday morning, I put a book in the Little Free Library located in Bloomingdale where W Street NW runs into 2nd Street NW. Inside the book, I accidentally left a bookmark that holds great sentimental value to me – (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Wondering if the fine people of PoPville can help me out, I donked up pretty good with my partner about two months ago. Donated her high school copy of The Handmaid’s Tale to one of the little libraries in Mount Pleasant – any chance one of your readers reading this found and read it?? Her initials are JW and I’d be happy to replace her copy with one from Lost City Books ;-)”
If you have it please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

“Dear PoPville,
Someone dropped a copy of Larry Csonka’s memoir in our Little Free Library last week. For those not well versed in 1970s NFL he’s a very important football person who played for Miami.
We have a Dolphins fan in our extended family, so we grabbed it to take a look, and it turns out it was signed by the author! But we can’t quite tell who it’s addressed to.
Then we found a card tucked inside the pages with a picture of (what we now know to be) the Florida state capitol….weird, but ok. Opened the card, and it was a birthday note from 2023 to then-Senator Marco Rubio. And now clearly see the inscription in the book says “To Marco Rubio.” (more…)

Yo! Stained glass books: (more…)

Thanks to Jim for sending this Little Free Library awesomeness from Logan Circle. Though I do wonder how they keep count… (more…)

We will be posting on a limited schedule next week but will return to our normal pace on Monday, April 21st. Hoping everyone has a peaceful and memorable week. The beautiful life shall return and flourish.

Fear not, the random reader rant and/or revels shall be refreshed every morning!
Please continue to send me your tips, photos, questions, diatribes, recommendations and of course commendations via email at [email protected] or to our socials @PoPville. Thanks!
