From MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces multiple arrests made after the peaceful resolution of a barricade situation inside a Navy Yard apartment complex.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at approximately 12:55 a.m., members of the First District responded to a call for a burglary inside an apartment complex in the 1100 block of First Street, Southeast. A victim reported multiple suspects entered their apartment and demanded property, but then realized they were in the wrong unit and left without obtaining property. The suspects then gained entry to neighboring unit. When officers arrived, the suspects were still inside that apartment. Officers declared a barricade and requested the assistance of MPD’s Emergency Response Team.

Several hours later an emergency DC Superior Court search warrant was obtained, (more…)

DC Government

“Dear PoPville,

We hope you can call attention to the increasingly compromised infrastructure at Marie Reed Aquatics Center in Adams Morgan where the showers have been barely functional since the spring of this year. Currently there are only four functioning showers of 11: two each in the women’s and men’s changing rooms (of five in each). The shower in the family / independent accessible shower is also not functioning properly (the water is not heated). In the women’s room two showers have hot water, one additional shower has running water but it is cold. Two others do not function at all- last winter one started running continuously, it could not be turned off, and instead of being fixed the water in it and the adjacent shower was turned off completely. In the men’s room, we understand that the water in two showers is functional and the hot water works and in three the water is not functional.

Of note, (more…)
