West Porch Fridays, a new farmers market @ Union Station starts this Friday!

“West Porch Fridays and will take place at the West Carriage Porch of Union Station. That site has historically been a destination for food and produce and we’re bringing that back every Friday from 1130am – 330pm starting June 27. The series runs until September 26. It’ll include vendors selling produce (two different farms, excited about the range of their offerings given what’s in season), bread, preserves and syrups, greens, dried herbs, ice cream, hot sauce, beer and other fun items. There will also be a hot food vendor from New Orleans called Mardi Gras Munchies.

Lifeguard asked the pool if there were any celebrations, birthdays or anniversaries, and one group mentioned their friend had gotten engaged Saturday evening. Then on the mic to the entire pool, full of younger women and girls, he congratulated her — a young woman — by saying, “have your fun now because when you become a wife you’ll spend everyday in the kitchen.” (more…)

DC Attorney General “announced three lawsuits against Maryland drivers and one lawsuit against a Virginia driver who have amassed more than 1,000 traffic infractions among them.”

“Continuing his focus on holding dangerous drivers accountable for repeated, illegal conduct on DC streets, Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced four new lawsuits, including three lawsuits against Maryland drivers and one lawsuit against a Virginia driver who have amassed more than 1,000 traffic infractions among them. The vast majority of the citations accumulated by the four defendants were for excessive speeding, and in total, the drivers owe the District more than $340,000 in unpaid fines, penalties, and fees.
