“Dear PoPville,
My quarantine wine supply is dwindling and I want to know the best option for replenishment. My last large order was when Dio was closing down (hopefully temporarily…..) and I’d like to support another local spot for my next order. Appreciate any help you can offer.”
The DC Chamber Musicians close out the 25-26 season with popular works by Brahms and Dohnanyi, and three selections of newer works that are sure to delight. All set in the lovely St. Thomas’ Parish Episcopal Church in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Join us afterward for a reception featuring light refreshments (including beer and wine) and an opportunity to chat with the musicians.

Thanks to the Christensen family for sharing this cool find:
“It’s from a childhood trip they took to DC from Iowa in 1934, and appears to be taken from the Capitol toward Union Station.”
If you have a photo of a neat find from your house or place of work please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail.com thanks. Please let me know where/what neighborhood you found it in too. Thanks.

Ed. Note: Yesterday there were 12,518 total positives.
From the Mayor’s Office:
“The District’s reported data for Thursday, August 6, 2020 includes 71 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 12,589.
The District reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths.
· 48-year-old male
· 84-year-old male
Tragically, 589 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
The community spread chart is subject to fluctuation because the data is based on symptom onset date. As national demand for testing increases and results take longer to come back in DC and across the country, DC Health has identified a need to increase the reporting lag time by four days to reduce volatility in the data. The most recent data reflects an increase in community spread. To ensure this graph accurately reflects the most recent data, the community spread count is being paused as these adjustments are made.” (more…)
