Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by a volunteer who compiles these pets weekly from local shelters.

Mango is about 2 years old and he showed up as a scrawny kitten to a friendly home that fed outdoor ferals. The nice lady fed him for several months before contacting us when the pandemic hit. He must have had a family before because he is so people friendly but no one claimed him so we took him in and got him neutered and shots. He’s a chill kitty and very laid back. He does very well with other cats but probably not dogs. He has many cute poses and is quite photogenic. He loves meal time and makes sure he never misses a meal. And he likes to sleep on the bed and sit on your lap if you’re in need of some good company. To learn more, contact Tails High Cats.

Hi, I’m Bernie! I’m a sweet and serious pup with beautiful puppy dog eyes. I’m a major snuggle bug even though I’m 65 lbs — I act like a lap dog! I am working on walking nicely on a leash but I’m a smart pup so I’m certain to learn quickly with some consistent training. Sometimes I’m a grumpy guy and I like my space, but I’m becoming more confident and even keeled every day. I also sometimes get spooked with loud noises sometimes. If I had a family who can work on my leash skills and build my confidence, that would improve. I love people more than anything else and will follow you around all day to get pets and snuggles. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can share all the love I’ve got to give! To learn more about me, message Rural Dog Rescue.

“Dear PoPville,

We did a cash-out refinance in DC and were charged a recordation tax (“state mortgage tax / stamps to hold for recording”) in addition to the recordation fee. It seems to us that we shouldn’t have been charged the tax. Can real estate lawyers in the Popville cotillion help us either be convinced we were correctly charged the tax or prove to our lender and settlement company why this was incorrect? This is for an owner-occupied home in DC with no other units. Any help you all can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Air Travel

Photos and words by @Pharipedia. Phari is one of my favorite photographers who contributes to our Instagram. He’s volunteered to share a bit more with us from his adventures around town. Phari lives on Capitol Hill.

“Arguably, the best spot to watch planes land and takeoff in the United States is right across the Potomac river, north of the National Airport, and right off the Mount Vernon Trail. Referred to as Gravelly Point, the area was where Captain John Alexander (City of Alexandria’s namesake) had built his home called Abingdon in 1746, and where later George Washington’s beloved granddaughter, Eleanor “Nelly” Parke Custis was born. Pack a picnic, lean back, and watch the planes pass just a hundred feet above.”

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

A “friend” of mine moved from DC to Delaware roughly 9 months ago. In DC, he would qualify for the current vaccine phase, but Delaware is not yet allowing people under 65, so he hasn’t been able to register there. Because of this, he has decided to use his old DC address and ID to try to register for a vaccine here.

As someone who has a very serious pre-existing condition, (more…)
