Thanks to Tim for sending this monster haul: “Virginia Ave community garden this weekend”

As the season progresses please send your great garden hauls via email to [email protected] with Garden Haul in the subject line and let me know what you’ve grown and what neighborhood you are in. Cheers, thanks and happy gardening! Great Garden Haul is made possible, ironically, by the Friends of the White Whale Society.

“Dear PoPville,

I was hoping the community could share some groups or websites to get involved with to organize or find out about group bicycle rides. I’m not looking for extra fast/competitive riding – more like casual city rides on the weekends or in the evenings.

Thanks for any help you can give me!”

I know DC Bike Party, who else?

Thanks to Rob for sending:

“I saw this during my run today around 9:30am by the Washington Monument. Looks like it’s Boston Dynamic’s Spot Arm . But I have no idea what it’s doing around there. When I took this picture, there was a park ranger (I think) who was looking through some papers and questioning its “owners”. But I didn’t stick around to find out what happened.”

Event

Join veteran Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey clown Jim Dandy and award-winning burlesque performer Delilah Dentata for Yolks on You, a brunch-time romp that celebrates the funniest, strangest, and most delightful variety performers they can find.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed burlesque, clown, live music, flow arts, drag, mime, pole, puppets, and a few things we still don’t quite know how to describe … and we’re doing it all again in May!

Bars

“Dear PoPville,

With Covid starting to fade a bit here my dc based fantasy football leave is looking for somewhere to host a draft later this summer. I’m sure were not the only ones who after a year + of not really going anywhere we don’t have the slightest idea what bars/restaurants/other venues might allow us to hold a draft?”

Assuming your group is like 10-15 folks, I think you’d be ok at most spots, I’d ask at The Brig, Boundary Stone, Lou’s, Red Derby, Wundergarten, Electric Cool Aid, Solly’s, The Sandlots, Jackie Lee’s, Dacha, Bardo, Walters, Moreland’s Tavern, man I’m getting thirsty… What would be some other good spots?

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I was on a scooter returning home a Saturday night around 10:30pm in NOMA, I stopped at an intersection to check my phone (probably shouldn’t have done that since it was late, and there weren’t many people about) and I felt a car slowing down behind me, so I turned around and the car stopped, engine still running and lights on and 4 or 5 guys jumped out of the car (more…)

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Time to think about rejoining the gym post vaccine, specifically WSC. Wondered if people had updates on good / bad experiences. I know WSC often gets bad rap, but always worked well for me pre covid.”

Ed. Note: We recently spoke about other post covid gym options here.
