Thanks to Meg for sending from “Stadium armory, 18th and Independence SE!”

Ed. Note: Back in May a river otter was spotted in the Tidal Basin. So maybe just taking a tour around town?

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected]. Thanks! Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

We positioned this as a more effective alternative to the mandatory mask policy based on the following logic. (more…)

gardening

Thanks to Audrey for sending from Brightwood: “our first haul from our garden boxes!

We have cucumbers in one box and a container, along with zucchini, and mint that does what it wants! Several pepper varieties, purple, green bell peppers, cherry, jalapeños, ghost, and Hungarian, plus tomatoes and tomatillos in the 2nd box.

Our neighbors are sharing in the harvests as they didn’t get to plant this year, so nothing goes to waste!”

Please send your great garden hauls via email to [email protected] with Garden Haul in the subject line and let me know what you’ve grown and what neighborhood you are in. Entries will be accepted through Labor Day. Cheers, thanks and happy gardening! Great Garden Haul is made possible, ironically, by the Friends of the White Whale Society.
