Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Ok, I get it that I have choices where to shop but CVS is kinda the only game in town for pharmacy. Here is what happened to me on Monday.
Went mid morning to the CVS in Takoma Park, my prescription wasn’t ready (ok, forgive me for the rush) but decided to get deodorants.

Called for an attendant, waited for a while until a salesperson came to tell me that someone from the previous shift had taken the key and they couldn’t open the case. Wait, what?

So I went to the CVS in Georgia & Van Buren. Standing in front of the deodorant case … for a longer while until the sales person came back with the SAME story. (more…)

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Hoping for a holiday miracle with this one. My fiancé’s wedding tuxedo was lost/stolen at Union Station last night (Wednesday.) Our wedding is Friday. He came out of Gate A of Union Station around 7:50pm on Wednesday night, was rolling multiple suitcases. As he was exiting, his blue Proper Cloth garment bag containing his wedding tuxedo fell off the suitcase and on to the floor. Less than two minutes later, (more…)

Pepco

“Dear POPville,

I have noticed some really unusual activity on my Pepco account and wondering if others are seeing similar/have any suggested course of action? I contacted Pepco after last billing cycle to contest the amount (almost $300!), and they said they would send techs out to read the meter since the bill was based on an estimate. The next day, without warning or scheduling, two reps from Pepco tried to buzz into my building while I was at work, and I never heard from them or Pepco again. I live in a one bedroom, 600sqft apartment and don’t have any unusual/high energy demand (I don’t think), and these are my bills since moving in: (more…)

Flyover

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Mayor Muriel Bowser issued the following statement in opposition to Section 373 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which would expand military access to Washington, DC’s airspace:

“I am deeply concerned about the provision included in the NDAA which would allow military departments to authorize training missions in DC’s already crowded and complex airspace. Following the tragic crash over the Potomac River in January, federal agencies including the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the U.S. Department of Transportation issued urgent safety recommendations and implemented measures to protect everyone flying to and from our nation’s capital. This provision disregards those efforts and reverses the progress we’ve made. (more…)

Restaurants

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I feel comfortable opining about two foods and two foods only – Pizza and Bagels. And I guess the stars have aligned. Now I’m not gonna lose my mind until I try one but mark me as very optimistic about this development. If the bagels are anywhere as good as the pizza then fellow bagel lovers are in for some very good news indeed.

Bold move launching in Bethesda though…

Andy’s Pizza posted last night:

“We’re making lists and we’re checking them twice! We are officially launching Bagels @ Andy’s at our Bethesda location every dang day from 7am-10:59am. (more…)
