Cava Closing Soon for Renovation/Expansion into space next door on Wisconsin

When that sun picture went up at the old &pizza (et al) space last December we wondered ‘What’s Coming Here: Weed Store or Tanning Salon? Something else? Perhaps another go at pizza…’ – commenters speculated that it was CAVA signage. AND they were right! Last night a worker at the currently still open Cava tells me that a temporary closure is coming soon to allow them to expand into the space. They say they haven’t been told exactly when the closure will be but it will be soon AND it will be for six months or so! All in all this is good news as the space was clearly having difficulty keep a tenant: (more…)

Botiwalla — Chai Pani Restaurant Group’s fast-casual concept with four other locations — will also debut in D.C. at Upton Place.

I’m told: “Botiwalla is a celebration of India’s late night street food scene – with its craveworthy chaats and sizzling grilled meats. There’s a good bit of crossover on Chai Pani and Botiwalla menus…we’re hoping to open by the end of the year.” (more…)

First Look Inside Ashok Bajaj’s, Rosedale, Opening Tomorrow in Van Ness!! (Thurs.)

“Restaurateur Ashok Bajaj of Knightsbridge Restaurant Group, is pleased to announce the October 24, 2024 unveiling of his new restaurant, Rosedale, located at 4465 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 20008, in the Forest Hills neighborhood in the northwest quadrant of the nation’s capital. Named for an important estate in Cleveland Park’s historic district, this new American concept will be a welcome addition to Northwest, Washington, D.C. Bajaj tapped James Beard Foundation’s award-nominated restaurant designer Martin Vahtra of Projects Design Associates of New York to design Rosedale. Rosedale opens with seating for 100 guests indoors with a patio seating 30 guests for outdoor dining, weather permitting. The restaurant will serve dinner and Sunday brunch and is within easy walking distance of the Van Ness UDC Metro station. (more…)
