Join DC Road Runners for the Run Better, Run Smarter Workshop at Balance Gym in Buzzard’s Point. The workshop is a comprehensive hands‑on (feet-on?) training experience designed for runners of all levels—from first‑timers to seasoned athletes preparing for fall races like the Army Ten-Miler, Marine Corps Marathon, and National Capital 20 Miler.

This workshop brings together industry experts, in coaching, strength training and HYROX, mobility and injury prevention, sports nutrition, and heart health.

“‘Zoo Loop’ in Rock Creek Park

Rock Creek Park includes a ½ mile section of recreational trail known as the ‘Zoo Loop’. This paved pathway extends along the edge of the Zoo property.

The loop is open during Zoo hours but closes one hour before the Zoo closes.

The loop may be closed without advance notice in the event of an emergency, inclement weather or as determined by Zoo management.”

Our Shared Commitment to the Potomac River

To our neighbors, community partners, and everyone who cares deeply about the Potomac River,

I want to begin by acknowledging what so many residents, environmental advocates, and river users have expressed in recent weeks: the sewer break on January 19, 2026, was deeply troubling. The Potomac River is a shared natural treasure, and any event that threatens its health understandably causes concern, frustration, and a sense of loss. Those feelings are not only valid – but they are also shared by all of us at DC Water.

I want to explain how this incident unfolded and the actions we have taken to mitigate its impacts and move forward. On the evening of Monday, January 19, 2026, security cameras detected unusual activity near one of our odor control facilities along the Clara Barton Parkway. That alert led our teams to discover a collapse in a section of the Potomac Interceptor sewer line, which resulted in an uncontrolled overflow of wastewater into the Potomac River. “The Metropolitan Police Department is providing an update on the investigation into a homicide that occurred Wednesday in the Glover Park neighborhood.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 4:39 p.m., Second District officers responded to the report of a shooting in front of an apartment complex in the 4100 block of W Street, Northwest. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female and a 10-year-old juvenile female suffering from gunshot wounds. A second child, a juvenile male, was located on scene uninjured. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving measures failed, the woman was pronounced dead. The injured juvenile female was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The deceased victim has been identified as 34-year-old Rayven Amuan Edwards of Northwest. (more…)
