Brian reports at 1:43pm: “In front of Garrison Elementary school. It looks like they are removing the occupants of the vehicle at this moment. Not clear how the vehicle flipped on its side.”
DC Fire & EMS reports: “Update Crash with entrapment 1200 block S St NW. #DCsBravest extricated an adult male victim who was trapped inside vehicle on its side. Serious non life threatening injuries. (more…)

WMATAstuff replied: “Nope 35X is gone once and for all. They’ve been moved into the main terminal while they finish the new gate 35X terminal.”
UPDATE: Official word from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority:
“American Airlines continues to operate several flights a day using Gate 35X. Once the new concourse, which is currently under construction, opens next year, then flights will stop operating from Gate 35X.”

“With the demolition and removal of office buildings and aircraft hangars that once occupied the north end of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the palette is clearing for the construction of a New Commuter Concourse that will replace passenger movement through the infamously congested Gate 35X. Presently, six thousand passengers a day journey through 35X, boarding buses that drive them to remotely parked aircraft. When the new concourse opens in 2021, 14 gates with jetbridges will replace the busing system, and the less-than-pleasing traits of Gate 35X will be retired.” (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a Homicide offense that occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in the 3rd Street Tunnel near Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest.
At approximately 2:52 pm, the suspect brandished a handgun and fired at the victim after a traffic related dispute. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Friday afternoon my kids and I were almost run over by a crazy driver in the 2600 block of P st, nw. in Georgetown. We had just parked and were waking to the sidewalk when someone came barreling down the block, crashed into the car parked behind us and then slammed into my car, pushing it into the sidewalk and almost crushing my 8 year old and me and totaling the car. Alexander writes: “The parking situation on Pierce St. (near 1st St. NE) is dangerous. It turns the road into a one-way street that goes two ways (see picture above) – this car must drive on the left side of the road to get around these cars. Is there something you can do to address?”

“Dear PoPville,
I’m sure you’re aware of the predatory speed camera on Kenilworth Ave. that catches essentially everyone taking the Benning Rd. exit off of the Anacostia Freeway.
After my wife and I both got tickets here in quick succession, and I did an analysis and was able to get them both dismissed by arguing that the camera’s location relative to the speed limit sign is unsafe.
I’m sending you the argument I used, along with supporting docs, as I think this could be useful (more…)
