For the street photographers out there:

“Pre-inauguration protests have already started in D.C. but there’s still more to come. Don’t forget to share what you see on January 20 and at the Women’s March with the folks at Focus on the Story who are publishing “UnPresidented,” a book documenting the people’s response to the inauguration of Donald J. Trump. An open call for submissions opens on January 22.”

I told you I would not restEd. Note: This series is really upsetting the “I didn’t vote for Trump but I’m here to defend the sanctity of the inauguration” crew. I will therefore continue to continue it. PS so many Hawk photos came in today – keep on keeping them coming too!! Anyway, a reader reports:

“Walked down to the White House this morning to say farewell and thank you to the Obamas and found a third porta-potty company – “Johnny on the spot” – without their logo taped over.

But I did also find a bigger Don’s Johns trailer-bathroom left uncovered. For what it’s worth – it didn’t look like this one would be open to the public.”

Somebody alert the commandant!

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve lived in DC three years now, so this is my first inauguration as a resident. I’m curious to ask others who have lived here for prior inaugurations:

Is it normal for them to be giving out inauguration tickets like candy? In the past several days, I’ve seen numerous ads for “free tickets” on Facebook, on news sites, etc. not only for the inaugural concert, but the inauguration itself. It seemed strange to me, but I did hear that the turnout is expected to be less than half of what Obama’s 2009 inauguration garnered, so maybe that’s why they’re practically begging people to come?

Secondly, the tickets I was sent after registering say “commemorative ticket only” and do not feature my name, a barcode or any other features that you’d normally have on a ticket you’ve registered for. Is this normal?

Again, I have nothing to compare this to, so I’m curious what others have experienced.”

umbrellas

From the National Park Service:

“Due to the forecast of rain tomorrow, there has been a revision to the “no umbrella” policy for tomorrow’s inaugural events. “Totes” style umbrellas that collapse will be allowed on the parade route as well as the National Mall for the inauguration. Long, non-collapsible umbrellas will not be allowed along the route or on the Mall.”

trumpmobile crash

Thanks to all who emailed last night. At least it wasn’t school bus this time. Stay tuned for continuing coverage.

“that huge Trump trailer is back again- he tried to go into the underpass under Thomas Circle, but I think it was too tall, so he was backing it up and reversed too quickly and hit the car behind him! 0-2 in just one day. Sad!”

“There was a four-car accident involving the Trump truck at 13th and Mass. shortly before 8 pm.”

Upate more details:

“The same “Unity Bridge” truck (or a similar one) crashed into a black car last night around 7:30 p.m. near Thomas Circle on Mass Ave. The truck realized it couldn’t fit under the underpass, so stopped and started backing up into oncoming traffic. The black car stopped to give it space, a young teenager in a tuxedo got out of the Trump truck to wave and yell, signaling an impending crash, and the truck continued to back up and crash into the car behind it.

Then the driver of the Trump truck, also in a tux, got out and started yelling at the driver he crashed into, saying the other driver should have known what was about to happen.

Meanwhile, a big guy just walking by mooned everyone, flipped off the Trump truck and yelled profanities.”

Don's Johns Proof
15th and Pennsylvania Ave, NW

While the national news may have moved on to more trivial issues like Cabinet confirmations and such, rest assured, I will not rest, until we get to the bottom!!! Ed. Note: I also have more hawk photos to post – keep those coming too! Thanks to Anthony for sending this update on our continuing coverage of the Don’s Johns cover up.

“On my walk through the National Mall & adjacent areas earlier today, it seemed like the Don’s Johns logos were the only logos being hidden. Logos from a multitude of other vendors in the same areas remained untouched.”

Update – and another contrast from ksutton she took on Sunday:
