SALAZAR, the latest from Reed Landry and Fritz Brogan’s Mission Group, will hold a soft opening Friday and Saturday from 8 pm until 3 am. The three-level bar and restaurant will be open Thursday through Saturday for the next two weekends, going to full-service hours after that with weekend brunch commencing in February. (more…)

We’ve been monitoring the old Barrel House space since they moved next door at the end of 2015. Finally got a bit of interesting scuttlebutt – sounds like Foxtrot Market could be interested in the space. Not sure if it’s big enough for them, but if they do get it, here’s to hoping they save the barrel!

Thanks to Oswald for sharing: “Today’s first photo finds a new sign being put up this morning on the 14th St. space once occupied by Home Rule. Not sure what Amazon may be popping up here; presumably not the “Fresh” stuff it sells one-half block south.”

“2D is on the scene of a confirmed shooting in the 1400 block of P Street, NW. No lookout.”

Alan Henney reported: “DOUBLE-FATAL SHOOTING— 15th St at P St NW-DC, on the second floor of the DeSoto Apartments. Two dead at the scene.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, December 20, 2021, in the 1400 block of P Street, Northwest.

At approximately 12:03 am, members of the Second District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims, inside of a residence at the listed location, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that both victims displayed no signs consistent with life. The victims remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedents have been identified as 27 year-old Nycholas Hester, of Houston, TX, and 25 year-old Johnny Coles, of Northwest, DC.

The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that the decedents exchanged gunfire inside of the residence.”
