Update on Bozzelli’s Italian Sandwich Shop – the cashless spot coming to the former Which Wich/Cafe Mediterranean/Quinznos space just north of K Street.

The owner tells me: “We received our building permit on Dec 14. We are shooting for a late winter opening.”

Updates as they get closer to opening.  You can check out their Crystal City menus here.

Back in November we learned that The Drafthouse Comedy Theater from owners of the Arlington Drafthouse was coming to 13th and L St, NW next to Maddy’s Taproom. They were hoping for a January opening and it looks like things are moving along – the placard says:

“A live theatre serving concession food with live comedy. Total Occupancy Load: 199. Total Seats: 175.”

Updates when they have an exact opening date.

“Dear PoPville,

I pass by this bus stop at 18th and M Street almost every day. Notice the apparently anti-semitic graffiti. It has been removed/erased at least five times since I’ve noticed and every time the ‘artist’ scrawls it back on. I assume the choice of ad for this graffiti is no
coincidence. I believe the BID is doing a good job of erasing the graffiti but at what point can an attempt be made to catch the person in the act of defacing public property, particularly in such an offensive manner?”

Potentially big retail news from the Washington Business Journal:

“D.C. proper could be getting its first Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th outlet. The lower-cost version of the luxury retailer is getting close to a lease deal at 555 12th St. NW, the downtown office building formerly home to ESPN Zone, according to two sources with knowledge of the deal…Similarly situated retailer Nordstrom Rack is also getting close to a deal at the site, according to the sources.”

Back in Sept. 2013 The Post speculated that a Target could be taking over the former ESPN Zone space. In October we learned that Barnes & Noble would be closing at the end of the year at 12th and G St, NW. Updates when/if leases are signed at these spaces.
