“Dear PoPville,
About 6 pm, I was walking up 11th Street NW. At Girard Street, I witnessed a multi-car accident (at least four moving vehicles involved, some parked cars hit, a biker nearly hit, etc.) This was kind of scary, especially because one of the vehicle’s airbags deployed, a woman got out of that vehicle and was yelling, “please come help, I have baby and my daughter inside, please help [add understandable panic here].” (more…)

This rental is located at 3547 11th Street Northwest. The listing says:
“CUTE BASEMENT APARTMENT CLOSE TO COLUMBIA HEIGHTS & PETWORTH METRO STATIONS.”

You can see more photos here.
This 1 bed/1 bath is going for $1,300/Mo.

“There are two new pop ups on Sherman Ave that are about a block away from one another. The builders of the 3000 block pop (the one with the three windows) did a pretty good job at trying to match the existing architecture of the neighboring houses.”

“The other pop up on the 3200 block (the one with one window) just looks awkward.”

“Grey striped Maine Coon kitten lost on Columbia and Mintwood in the Kalorama Triangle last night. Goes by the name “Mason.” He is attached to a leash and harness.
Please call Elaine at 703-399-4997 or e-mail at [email protected]. Reward.”

From WMATA:
“On April 18, Metro will begin installing two new entrance escalators on the east side of Columbia Heights Station, marking the final phase of a major capital project to replace all seven of the station’s escalators. To date, five of the station’s escalators have been replaced with safer, more reliable units.
In order to expedite the process and reduce the impact to customers, Metro will temporarily close the east side entrance, located on the northeast corner of 14th and Irving streets NW, during the nine-month project. This will allow Metro’s contractor, KONE, to replace the two adjacent escalators at the same time, reducing the project duration by about half.”

Patrick’s Pet Care’s website says:
“Going on vacation? Need to leave town on short notice? Have a pet with special needs? Get in touch and I will come pick up your pet(s) or you can bring your pet(s) to my place in Columbia Heights where they will have free reign and I will care for them as my own. Or, if your pets are more comfortable in their own environment, I will happily come to your place to care for their every need according to your existing routine. If you prefer I will even stay overnight at your house while you’re away and take care of the place as I would my own.”
Locations are also listed in Adams Morgan and Bethesda.
Ed. Note: This is the third iteration of a pet store at this location. Updates when an exact opening date is announced.

“Dear PoPville,
I’m just curious if you have received any reports of a loud disturbance coming from Meridian Hill Park last night between 10:40-11:30 PM? I live at the bottom of the park and was awoken by a large gathering of men chanting in unison for close to an hour. This also occurred in the Fall and after an hour or so I saw cop lights and the singing/chanting stopped. I didn’t see any cops last night although I called the non-emergency police line to report this disturbance. It seemed to have broken up on its own.
I was at a loss for what this gathering was until my co-worker pointed out it could be a Wiccan gathering on the solstice. This makes sense since the last one I heard occurred around the Fall solstice and yesterday was the Spring solstice.
Have any intel on this??”

From a press release:
“On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., the mother-daughter duo behind Toli Moli, Jocelyn Law-Yone and Simone Jacobson, are bringing falooda and Anglo-Burmese snacks to Thip Khao, home of the Lao food movement in D.C. [3462 14th Street, NW]
After Toli Moli introduced nearly 1,000 eaters in D.C. to falooda, the family-owned business continues its mission to sweeten snack time with the introduction of Burmese tea leaf salad and two new falooda flavors: Cherry Blossom and Bourbon-Cassis. The Cherry Blossom dessert drink is layered with mint-apple jellies, apples soaked in homemade cherry syrup, basil seeds, vermicelli noodle pudding and is topped with vanilla ice cream. This unique taste of Spring is pale pink in color, akin to the flowers in full bloom, complete with green “leaves” of gelatin that add a refreshing burst of sweetness to the falooda flavor profile.
