Raccoon dying of rabies outside my office (Wyoming at 18th) in Adams Morgan. Damn it is sad to watch. Heads up that there may be others around too.
I’ve called DC animal control 3x since 7 AM and they sent someone out but the truck were apparently flagged down by MPD en route.

It was a hot day. You could practically see the steam rising from the sidewalks. But it was an even hotter night and Victor didn’t get a wink of sleep. The A/C unit overloaded in his apartment and of course the sirens were blaring like clockwork on Columbia Road, which kept Victor, or Vic as all his gambling buddies called him, up all night tossing and turning. And thinking about Holly, where was Holly tonight? He pulled his last Parliament out of a soft pack and it was cracked. Of course it was. Sleep finally came at 5:34am just as his neighbor’s dog started barking for his morning walk. Vic let out a mighty cough and a mightier curse. Of course it was a good thing for Vic that he did wake because he forgot he left his wallet at the newly reopened Habana Village down the block. (more…)

“The Fourth District was working a shooting in the 1300 block of Newton St NW that occurred early this morning at approximately 5:00 am. One victim was shot once in the shoulder. The victim is being treated at a local hospital. This is not an active event and patrol units will remain vigilant and visible in the area following this incident. I’ve been getting lots of emails from folks asking for updates on the Streets Market coming to the old Metro K space. I’m told they are just waiting on a construction permit but they are definitely still coming. If all goes well they should open in the fourth quarter of 2019.
22nd and N Street, NW
Also the Streets coming to the West End is on track to open in the third quarter of this year.
Updates as we get exact opening dates at both locations.
1792 Columbia Road, NW
I’m epically late in reporting this news. I think they closed like a month ago. Anyway, there was some high praise for them when they first opened in late 2016. This was the longtime home the Mixtec before Epic opened. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.
