“The First District is currently investigating an incident that took place in the area of the 700 block of 7th Street SE which took place this evening [Wednesday] between 6:00pm and 6:15pm. A victim, of what we believe to have been an assault, woke up on the ground and realized that her purse was missing. However, she is unable to remember what happened. Her property was later recovered a short distance away.
The case is being actively investigated by First District detectives. Should anyone have any information regarding the incident, please contact the First District Detectives office at (202) 299-2025, or the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099.”

“Sharing the unfortunate news that a young woman was violently mugged by two assailants on our street this evening between 6:14-6:20pm in front of the 1300 block of Wallach Place.

UPDATE from MPD:
“MPD units responded to the 2100 block of 14th Street NW at approximately 8:20am this morning for the report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a scooter. The investigation on the scene revealed that a passenger in the vehicle opened the driver’s side rear door of the car, striking the scooter who was traveling down the street. The operator of the scooter was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the vehicle was issued a notice of infraction for opening or permitting a door to open to traffic side.”

Aha!! A few weeks ago we noted that it looked like a new restaurant was coming to the former Creme space on 14th. And indeed one is – it’s gonna be Rooster & Owl. Despite the fact that the name will obviously be savaged in the comments, [Ed. Note: Personally as a fan of both roosters and owls, I’m rather keen on the name] this sounds very very promising.
