“As a result of the shooting incident, tonight’s (Saturday) Nationals game has been suspended.”

“At approximately 9:30 PM, 1D officers heard sounds of gunshots coming from S.Capitol & O Street SW. 1D officers responded to the location and found 1 adult female victim, suffering from a graze wound to her back. Minutes later 1D officers got information that two additional victims drove themselves to a local hospital and received treatment for injuries sustained at this location. All of the victims are in stable condition. The lookout for the involved suspect vehicle is for a dark colored sedan, unknown make, model or tag number. Last scene fleeing at a high rate of speed southbound on S. Capitol Street SW. This incident is not related or has anything to do with the Nationals stadium. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
For the past week I have been trying to find out what is going on with the East Potomac Park pool. You posted about the unknown status of the pool earlier this week. I have now received a response from DPR. I’m sad to share that they are filling in the pool with dirt and it seems that the pool may never be completed. DPR directed me to the updated project page which states “It has become necessary to demobilize and stabilize the East Potomac Pool project due to deteriorating site conditions from significant and unforeseen groundwater intrusion that ultimately made the continuation of the project both safety and cost prohibitive. Laura writes: “Did you hear they’re filling in the pool to expand the golf course… How many city residents are going to play the golf course versus miss that fabulous pool?”
And John sends the photo above: “looks like pool being filled in? Any word on this?”
Last we check in December 2019 it looked like it was still being dug out. Plans were to open last summer but obviously that was way off target. Perhaps more info will become available as part of the new golf deal with National Links Trust. Updates as we learn more.

“This is my house and it’s hysterical that I made PoPville.I have the same address as BWW except I’m SW and they are SE.We were getting a minimum of 10 doorbell rings a night from delivery drivers despite the fact that my house is obviously not a BWW.” (more…)

“During quarantine a lot of cyclists are heading down to Hains Point. On the southern most point of the golf course a bald eagle visits every afternoon. (see picture of the eagle land.) When she is not around Ospreys hang out there, often holding fish (See picture). (more…)

“1D officers are currently on the scene of a shooting in the 1300 block of 1st St SW. An adult male suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 1300 block of 1st St SW is currently closed to traffic. Any witnesses are encouraged to call 202-727-9099 or anonymously text 50-411 with information.”

“On 3/30/20 at approximately 0048 hours, officers from the First District responded to the intersection of 5th and L Street SE for the sounds of gunshots. On the scene, officers located firearms evidence and were also notified that a window of a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street SE had been struck by a bullet. (more…)
