Things are continuing to come up aces in Cleveland Park. First Captain Cookie soft opened (grand opening Saturday), Thai Love is getting close to opening and the Little Black Bird wine bar opens today. Now, I’m hearing that a Fresh Baguette is going to come to Cleveland Park somewhere near the metro.

Update: ANC rep Tammy Gordon says “it’s going in next to the OrangeTheory!”

“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in locating a suspect that is wanted for an escape offense. He was previously arrested on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, and charged with a Homicide offense.

Christopher Patrick Haynes, pictured below, is described as a 30-year-old black male, 6’0” in height, weighing approximately 205 pounds with a medium brown complexion. Haynes has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at approximately 3:30 pm, in the 900 block of 23rd Street, Northwest, last seen wearing a black T-shirt and a grey shorts underneath a white body suit. Yesterday we learned that the Matchbox in Cathedral Commons had closed. Props the Yellow Liner who guessed correctly: “My guess would be Makers Union, since that’s been expanding locally, including a location that was going to be a Matchbox at the Wharf. I could see a gastropub doing pretty well in that location, though I would much prefer something that’s less corporate, less chain-like, and more committed to quality.”

I live near the Engine 8 fire station in Hill East and while I admit it’s a little less awful than your recurring series, it’s still not great!

They’ve been replacing the roof at the fire station for the past couple weeks and this has resulted in lots of noise every morning because they start bright and early (including on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend). Update from MPD: “Update: Detectives from @DCPoliceDept Homicide Branch arrested three people overnight for First Degree Murder While Armed (Felony Murder) in connection to Tuesday afternoon’s shooting in the 200 block on M Street, Southeast. Additional details will be released later today.”

KG reported at 5:02pm Tuesday: “huge police presence at 2nd and M SW in front of Valo apartments, husband said he heard tons of gunshots, a short break, and then more gunshots. Gotta be at least 12-15 cars responding.”

From MPD: “1D Shooting Investigation in the 200 block of M Street SW Lookout for black sedan with 3 B/M’s.”

The Washington Post reported: “All five were shot inside a residence in the 200 block of M Street SW, said Assistant Police Chief Carlos Heraud in a brief statement given near the scene.”
