“District of Columbia, Georgetown University, and the National Park Service Announce Agreement to Increase Public Waterfront Access along the Georgetown Waterfront”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District of Columbia (District), Georgetown University, and the National Park Service announced an agreement regarding the development of property along the Georgetown Waterfront that will complete a decades long effort to realize expanded non-motorized boating activities along the Potomac River in Georgetown, as well as the construction of a Georgetown University Boathouse.

Under the terms of the agreement, Georgetown will donate a parcel of land on the Potomac River to the National Park Service to be added to the boundary of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. This parcel includes an easement along the Capital Crescent Trail, which would be extinguished when the land is donated. This will allow for uninterrupted use of the trail by the public. (more…)

Thanks to Laura for sending: “Alero on 13th and U Street is closing!”

The note says in part: “The Building has chosen not to renew our lease, so we will be closing our doors at this location.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll sadly say it again but oh there was a time. There was a time but I don’t think you’d believe me. (more…)
