“Dear PoPville,

Last night around 10:30 PM a vehicle was reportedly speeding while chased by federal law enforcement, hit a speed bump and flipped over on Webster St NW between 2nd St NW and Rock Creek Church Rd NW. We could hear a lot of helicopters overhead and saw a lot of non MPD on the scene so I grabbed my dog and went to get a closer look. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Dozens of people came out on barely an hour’s notice and there was music and we were all passing information and encouragement and plans on how to support the community and each other. (While cop cars did slow circles around the plaza and eventually parked right next us.)

Next, we’ll aim for an art session in front of Bancroft and Sacred Heart schools. I can’t imagine how scared and scarred so many kids are right now.”

Chelsea also shares with us: “ICE terrorized my neighborhood of Mt Pleasant today so we reclaimed the plaza — our community living room — with joy and love and messages of resilience. Thank you to everyone who turned out, let’s do it again!! These few photos do not do it justice” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m just dropping a note to mention that I watched the vehicle (silver Mercedes) in the attached picture traveling at high speed west down the 1300 block of E Street NE yesterday (Friday) just after 5:00pm. He hit a number of cars on our block, and continued down E Street hitting parked cars in the 1200, 1100, and 1000 block until hit a dead-end at 10th Street NE. There I caught up with him and another neighbor while we called the cops. We tried to get him to turn off the car but after about 10 minutes he jumped the curb and crossed the sidewalk to Maryland Avenue, hitting more cars and taking out street sign along the way. “Dear PoPville,

Every night this week at 8pm exactly, some of my neighbors in Adams Morgan come out and bang on pots and pans. I just overheard them say they are protesting. I guess it is related to The Attempted Takeover? Is this a thing in other neighborhoods?”

Remember when folks did that to support essential workers during covid lock downs? Anyone else hearing this?

“Dear PoPville,

I’m hoping you can help me track down a guy named Jason. On Saturday, Jason had a pretty impressive wipeout and was knocked unconscious after hitting a parked car on 13th St near the Cardozo Hill. My friend and I saw the whole thing and stayed until he was in good hands with the fire department. I’m just looking to confirm he’s okay and if he has all his teeth.

Let him know if he wants to fill in the blanks, my friend and I happy to share the details from our vantage point, but mostly, I’m just relieved he’s safe.”
