“Shilling Canning Company is a modern Mid-Atlantic restaurant opening July 10, 2019 in The Yards area along the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. Chef and Owner Reid Shilling serves his take on seasonal cuisine highlighting ingredients from around the Chesapeake region. The restaurant offers a polished interior with Carrara marble bar tops, dark wood and white shiplap accents, modern lighting, a gleaming copper-clad wood-burning oven, and a lush outdoor patio. Shilling Canning Company is named for Shilling’s family company of the same name, which operated in the small town of Finksburg, MD from 1935 to 1958.

Shooting in Columbia Heights; Shots Fired in Navy Yard/Hill East and Daytime Shots Fired in SW Waterfront

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2900 block of 14th Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Speaking of fireworks, I always get lots of queries about this one as it’s starting. Good reminder from the Nationals:

“Since Nationals Park opened its gates in 2008, July 3rd fireworks have become a tradition here in the team’s Navy Yard home. Fans are invited to stay after the 6:05 p.m. game to enjoy this year’s edition of the Freedom Fireworks show!”

“On June 22, 2019, at approximately 9:50pm, patrol officers of the Fourth District received a 911 call regarding a shooting in the 600 block of Morton St NW and the 3400 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Upon officers’ arrival, one adult male was located in an unconscious state on Morton St NW with multiple gunshot wounds. (more…)
