“Silver Diner has just signed a lease for its first Silver Diner restaurant in Washington, D.C. While the company operates a restaurant in Northwest, Washington–Silver, American Brasserie, it has never had a Silver Diner in D.C. Update from MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce two arrests have been made in reference to a Homicide and Armed Carjacking (Taser) offense that occurred on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in the 1200 block of Van Street, Southeast.

At approximately 4:31 pm, members of the First District responded to listed location for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 66 year-old Mohammad Anwar, of Springfield, VA.

The Detectives’ investigation on the scene revealed that the suspects assaulted the victim with a taser while carjacking the victim which resulted in a motor vehicle accident.

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, a 13 year-old juvenile female, of Southeast, DC, and a 15 year-old juvenile female, of Fort Washington, MD, were arrested and charged with Felony Murder and Armed Carjacking (Taser).

“Dear PoPville,

There’s a section of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail that goes through Navy Yard SE, where there is a large boardwalk section. I’ve taken several walks along this route and seen many mopeds and motorcycles being driven full speed over the boardwalk pedestrian bridge there in full daylight in the afternoon. Today (Monday) two at once drove over it, then turned around and came back, while there were A LOT of pedestrians walking. There were elderly couples, people with strollers, people with wobbly toddlers, vet techs taking day-boarded dogs for walks, and everyone scrambled to avoid being hit and the poor dogs were terrified.
