haymaker
1015 H Street, NE

“Dear PoPville,

My husband and I stopped by the Haymaker last night, which is now (soft) open in the former Atlas Room space. The bar looks great inside (though they still have a banner out front instead of a real sign) and we thought the drinks and food were good and reasonably priced. It definitely shows promise as a low-key neighborhood spot for H St residents, which the bartender told us is the goal. We will be back for sure.

Just wanted to let you know that they are up and running, and encourage other neighbors to check them out!”

A peek at the bar from Haymaker’s facebook page:

“We are a casual neighborhood bar with a focus on drinks at a value and fun bar food. Join us after work or late night.

#HStreetNE neighborhood bar. Great beer on tap,by the bottle, a few wines by the glass, classic cocktails, highballs and two “punches.” Bar food we don’t take too seriously! The Haymaker – One Last Punch!”

Speaking of mind blowing transformations, if you haven’t been to H Street in a couple months, well you’re mind will be blown (matches rendering pretty well too…)

This could be a terrible dagger for H Street if permanent:

“Dear PoPville,

Thought you’d be interested in news from H Street that the Argonaut was closed and padlocked with a no trespassing sign last night (Sunday). No official word, but the manager Shaaren’s latest tweet suggests it could be bad.”
