Thomas Foolery opened in the former Zeke’s DC Donutz space back in July 2013.
Located right next door to Thaiphoon on S Street, NW in Dupont. Back in the day we learned it is now part of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and: “It was built as a store in 1877, making it one of the oldest remaining buildings in the neighborhood. It certainly is an unusual facade.”

Nice – the former Pinkberry space (and don’t forget Pampillonia Jewelers represented here for many years before that) is going to become a second location for Buredo who opened their first “Burrito-size sushi rolls” spot at 825 14th Street, NW over the summer. Ed. Note: 825 14th Street, NW used to be a Yogenfruz. God willing Buredo will take over all the former frozen yogurt spots in the city! For those not familiar their website says:
“Buredo (pronounced “bur-EE-doh”) is a local DC establishment, owned by two life-long childhood friends and DC natives who were looking for a unique, fresh lunch option. Our handheld, burrito-size sushi rolls feature Asian and other globally-inspired ingredients and flavors. I peeked in yesterday and was told to standby for an April 4th opening. Also not featured in the photo below – lots comfortable booth seating. Hard to believe this was a Cosi. You can check out Bareburger’s menus here.

“I walked by Willie T’s this morning and it is closed for good. There is a big commercial “for rent” sign in the window. I’m sad, but not surprised. They never seemed to be busy.”

“Dear PoPville,
I went to Pansaari in Dupont yesterday and was thinking it’s kind of an undiscovered gem.
It has the best chai in DC (maybe the best outside of India) made to order with a ton of fresh spices and ginger.
Food is very good too – very high quality, farm-to-table and authentic. There was someone in there yesterday freaking out because the owner had made some dish he hadn’t had since he lived in India. They sell spices too.
And the space is super beautiful. They took the old Chaos space and transformed it from basement dance club to bright, beautiful chai hideaway. (Chaidaway?) Lots of beautiful painted tile on the walls and a huge, inlaid marble chai bar.
Anyway, I don’t work there or anything but think it’s awesome and I think more people should know about it.”

Crios’ website says:
“To our valued customers –
We are sorry to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, Crios will be closed at this location. Thank you for your patience as we transition to a new location hopefully still in the neighborhood. In the meantime, please join us next door at our sister restaurant Scion where a lot of our wonderful staff can still be found! We look forward to having you join us again when we relocate!”
Crios opened in the old Vento (remember Vento? Remember Stars Bistro…?) space back in 2012.

This is right next door the to the former five guys burger spot (now a 7-Eleven). Also not far from where the Smashburger closed in 2014. Updates when they announce an opening date.

“We invite you to join local nonprofit Collective Action for Safe Spaces for Women Drinking Coffee: Sitting In For Safe Spaces on February 6 for women, LGBTQGNC folks, and allies to meet to talk about ways that we can make public spaces safe for everyone.
The sit-in was planned after we read this article about an event happening at the Dupont Starbucks and realized it had been too long since feminists had gathered at this location to enjoy delicious beverages like the white chocolate mocha. While the event cited in the article may have been canceled, our sit-in for safe spaces will prevail. (more…)
