1323 Connecticut Ave, NW

GBD is located in the former Yola space at 1323 Connecticut Ave, NW.

Their facebook page announces:

“It’s official, gang! Friday we will be opening for breakfast & lunch starting at 8 AM. We can’t wait to see you!”

For those not familiar – their website says:

GBD (which gets its name from the restaurant kitchen shorthand for golden, brown and delicious) pairs the sweet and savory specialties of husband and wife team Chef Kyle Bailey & Pastry Chef Tiffany MacIsaac the culinary masterminds behind Birch & Barley.

Located just south of Dupont Circle, GBD is a casual & lively neighborhood spot that pulls triple duty serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the morning, guests find a warm and inviting spot to enjoy one of MacIsaac’s fresh homemade doughnuts with a cup of coffee from premium craft roaster Mad Cap coffee. Ranging from the traditional fried-to-order vanilla glaze and classic coffee cake to the more gourmet grapefruit-campari old fashion and butterscotch, bourbon & bacon brioche doughnuts, GBD has a doughnut for every craving.

The fried chicken and menu of sides will take center stage at lunchtime, while the evening will see an expanded dinner menu as well as a snack menu with plenty of odds & ends for sharing. GBD will also serve as a destination for craft beer, fantastic wines and one-of-a-kind specialty punches in the evening.

Check out some of the doughnuts here.

I was able to attend a preview party last night and I can def. vouch for the D. Everything I tasted from the doughtnuts to the chicken to the drinks were delicious.

  • I love that it is next to Epic Yoga. I am imagining an epic stretching episode, then a fried chicken and doughnut run.

Also, more chickens! Always with the chickens! Why no doughnut-based art?

I REALLY wish folks would get their menus up before they issue the press release. It’s your biggest chance to get eyes on your site. What kind of businessperson would flub that??

Finally. Now if I could just get AstroDoughnuts to tell me the truth about when they’ll open.

  • mony

As a local resident, most excited to see how it will turn out as a late night destination. The space seems tiny so I imagine it will be slammed until midnight like most adult-friendly bars in DC

Whatdo you mean by “adult-friendly”? Aren’t most bars oriented towards adults?

      • washingtonian

You never heard of juice bars? *cymbal crash*

      • bfinpetworth

Well I would argue that most 20-somethings in this town are not adults, but they sure take up space in bars…

        • Anonymous

Ahh. Now I get it. Total agreement.

          • Mony

Yep-most bars in that area cater to 22-25 year olds from VA or MD on weekends, I can see this getting the 26+ crowd like Churchkey gets

  • I went past last night (while they were closed for the private party)and was really intrigued. I’ll definitely come back when they are open to the public!

  • That Man A

    sounds SO fat haha

    looks cool though

  • joker

This place will have the heaviest police presence in the city.
