1214 18th Street, NW

Good news for chicken heads. My sources deep in the fast casual chicken world have a juicy tidbit for us today – Chick-Fil-A cometh to 18th Street. I’m hearing 1214 18th Street, NW (near Nando’s buckle up son) and Eighth Street Lounge, Shake Shack etc. It’s not clear exactly which space it’s taking, not sure if the Rabbit Hole fell through or if the  Eritrean Cultural & Civic Center is being split. These spaces were formerly home to MIA Lounge, Lupe Mexican Cantina and Sesto Senso

Anyway I give this scuttlebutt an 87% accuracy rating.

STAY TUNED.

A new liquor license placard has been posted at the former Scion space in Dupont:

“New Restaurant that will serve Mediterranean and international cuisine. Sidewalk Cafe with 40 seats. Total Occupancy Load is 162 with seating for 100.”

Scion closed after 10 years back in August.

Updates when we learn more about the “Mediterranean and international cuisine” coming. Stay tuned.

Whoa, what’s happening – first an American Bittern in Eckington and now a Heron/Egret/Another American Bittern?!? Thanks to Janine for sending over the weekend:

“I spotted this guy last night on T between 17 and 18. He looks like some type of heron or egret, but likely juvenile because his feathers are sticking out. He was gone by this morning and I called City Wildlife. They asked if he was hurt (he doesn’t seem to be) and said they will keep an eye out for him. Hope he finds his way.”

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

After an official motorcade was spotted at Lauriol Plaza last week, Cecilia asked us on twitter:

“Honestly, I live down the street from Lauriol. Why is that place so popular?! I think the last time I went there was at least 7 years ago; haven’t missed it.”

This resulted in lively responses, to say the least, so let’s go to the polls:

For those still mourning Taylor Gourmet.
