Thanks to a reader for sending a photo of the new Newton’s Noodles signage that has gone up at 1129 20th St, NW between L and M Streets. Back in October we learned that Newton’s Noodles plans on opening around May 1st. Newton’s Noodles comes from the same folks behind Newton’s Table in Bethesda.
Thanks to @MikeRucki for sending word of Cosi closing at 1275 K St, NW. In late October we also learned that Cosi’s 19th and M St, NW location had closed.

A couple weeks ago we noted the building to be home to Mari Vanna Russian restaurant was looking good. Lots more info and a brief peek inside from a press release:

In mid January, Russian hospitality powerhouse Ginza Project will bring this legend to life with the opening of Mari Vanna’s second US location in the heart of downtown D.C. With an established reputation of excellence in authentic Russian cuisine in New York, London, Moscow and beyond, the capital’s 6,500 square-foot eatery will be Mari Vanna’s largest location in the world. Located at 1141 Connecticut Ave., NW, the hotspot finds its home in one of the district’s most upscale locales. Thanks to a reader for sending word on this new spot coming to M Street, NW between 18th and 19th Streets. He writes: “Bringing the two snack trends together.” At first glance I thought it was going to bring yoga and cupcakes together, which would’ve pretty awesome too. YOCAKE will feature frozen yogurt and cupcakes. You can see their menu here.
More lunch options coming to downtown. Yesterday we learned that a Noodles and Company was coming to 17th and K St, NW and now signage has gone up a couple blocks away for a Protein Bar coming to 19th and K St, NW (entrance on 19th Street.)
