From MPD:
“Good morning. Members of the Third District Crime Suppression Team (CST) and the Narcotics and Special Investigations Division (NSID) conducted another prostitution enforcement operation last night/early this morning in the area of 12th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW in response to community concerns regarding an increase in visible prostitution activities. The operation resulted in the arrests of 6 males for prostitution related offenses. We will continue our efforts in the area in hopes of making a lasting impact on this illegal activity.”

AlertDC reported around 10am:
“DDOT reports a cyclist struck at 14th and I St NW. At this time, southbound 14th St NW (all lanes) and I St NW lanes 2 and 3 are blocked. Please use an alternate route.”
A reader reports:
“The “police activity” that happened on 14th and I this morning: bus hit a pedestrian and possibly dragged him. Two employees at my job were witnesses and haven’t shown up to work yet to give more details.
Update: was a cyclist, that was just what we heard when I mentioned pedestrian. Person is going to be okay, so that is a good thing. My colleagues were first on scene and are pretty shaken up so heading home. Cyclist was dragged for a while and bus driver did not notice/see that he was dragging a cyclist.”
DC Police Traffic now reports:
“UPDATE: Accident 14th & I Street, NW CLEAR ALL LANES OPEN”

Courtesy Nino’s Bakery
From Nino’s Bakery owner Miranda Rinaldi:
“Nino’s Bakery will be opening this fall 2017 at 1310 L St NW. Steps from Franklin Square, we encourage our neighbors to take a break from the office and indulge in the simple elegance of artisan pastries and chocolates made from scratch.
Nino’s Bakery is named after the owner’s dachshund whom she adopted while living in Italy. During his years in Milan, Nino attempted to enter every bakery in the city in his search for pastries. Now that he has come to America, Nino is finally getting his own bakery, which sadly he still cannot enter. So give yourself a moment of bliss and enjoy a pastry for Nino.”
STAY TUNED.
