Official Word on St. Arnold’s Mussel Bar in Cleveland Park: “No updates”

When we posted about the miracle of St. Arnold’s reopening their Jefferson Place location in Dupont, folks were understandably curious about plans for their Cleveland Park location (opened here in January 2012 and has been closed since suffering a fire in June 2019.)

Maggie wrote when posted about Jefferson Place: “I’m here at the Dupont Circle location now, and the bartender just said they’re not opening Cleveland Park or any other – this will be the only one.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in the 3000 block of Rodman Street, Northwest.

At approximately 2:49 am, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, DC FEMS members located an unconscious adult male, in the hallway of a residential building, suffering from an apparent stab wound. (more…)

More damage in Cleveland Park from Van Ness Shooting Friday

“Dear PoPville,

Was at Cracked Eggery [Friday during the shootings.] After Byblos and Uptown Vision had their windows hit I went to leave in my car. Was parked on NB side of Connecticut. Discovered a flat tire. Long story short the Tesla center replaced it and they found a 9mm bullet in the tire. Spoke to DC police and sounds like it was connected to the shooting. There must have been a lot of bullets that traveled very far as a result of this.”

Ed. Note: I stopped by the 3400 block of Connecticut Ave, NW in Cleveland Park to see the damage and it truly is a miracle more people weren’t injured: (more…)

A reader reports: “I was sitting outside at the The Cracked Eggery next to the old Uptown Theater when the shots were fired. I could hear a bullet wizz by and it hit the window of Byblos Deli.”

Another reader reports: “there’s been a police car parked over there near Byblos/Orange Theory for quite a while.”
