“fattoria-to-table” restaurant from creator of Bourbon Steak, Michael Mina, coming to City Ridge (old Fannie Mae site)

From a press release:

“City Ridge’s joint venture partners, Roadside Development and North America Sekisui House, LLC (NASH), announced that Chef Michael Mina’s MINA Group will open two new dining concepts within the heart of the highly-anticipated, 10-acre neighborhood in early 2023. Known in DC as the creator of Bourbon Steak, and across the globe for award-winning culinary experiences that span from Las Vegas to Dubai, Michael Mina will make his return to the district at City Ridge. With him, Mina brings decades of experience serving patrons at more than 40 restaurants around the world including several U.S. presidents, and numerous accolades including a Michelin star and several James Beard Foundation Awards.

“We’ve spent the last couple of years at MINA Group focused on developing new dining concepts that are fresh and interesting and then finding the right partners for them,” said Chef Michael Mina. “City Ridge is one of the most exciting new developments to come to the DC area in recent years and we are thrilled to be able to introduce a new MINA Group restaurant to the neighborhood.”

On the ground floor of 14 Ridge Square NW, City Ridge’s central hub, MINA Group will open a “fattoria-to-table” restaurant, sourcing fresh ingredients for dishes and cocktails for City Ridge’s residents, office tenants and visitors to enjoy. The concept will span 7,815 square feet and plans to open in early 2023. 14 Ridge Square will also house CAVA Group Inc.’s new headquarters, Industrious coworking and a 30,000-square-foot Equinox.

Five floors above lies The Ridge Club, the nearly 20,000-square-foot members-only pool and social club, a rooftop oasis with a lap and resort-style pool, reservable cabanas, a theater screen, locker room facilities and a 3,000-square-foot restaurant and bar. By early next year, MINA Group will debut an exclusive food and beverage menu for The Ridge Club, serving poolside plates and specialty cocktails showcasing MINA Group’s exceptional hospitality. While the pool area will operate seasonally following its opening this fall, The Ridge Club’s restaurant and bar will be open for everyday gatherings and private events year-round once it opens in early 2023.

“While designing City Ridge and specifically, 14 Ridge Square and The Ridge Club, it was critical that we found a restaurateur that could bring these spaces to life with creative, dynamic concepts,” said Richard Lake, principal of Roadside Development. “We are proud to be working with Michael Mina and the rest of MINA Group to make our vision a reality through exciting menus and beautiful interiors. We look forward to welcoming our residents, tenants and visitors to these concepts and the rest of the City Ridge neighborhood as it continues to take shape.”

City Ridge is home to 154,000 square feet of retail space anchored by DC’s first Wegmans grocery store as well as Tatte Bakery & Cafe, both of which opened this summer. Residents and guests will soon be able to enjoy additional restaurants and conveniences including King Street Oyster Bar, Taco Bamba, KinderCare, Bank of America, and more to be announced. In addition to office tenants CAVA Group Inc. and Industrious at 14 Ridge Square, The International Baccalaureate has signed a 97,000-square-foot lease for its Global Centre for the Americas on-site at 3900 Wisconsin Avenue.

Surrounding 14 Ridge Square are four apartment residences including Botanica, The Branches, The Coterie and Crescendo, bringing a total of 690 new apartments to City Ridge. As City Ridge’s first residents continue to move in throughout the summer and fall, all residents have access to all amenities across the four buildings including six rooftop areas, a pizza oven and smoker, state-of-the-art fitness studio facilities with designated spaces for aerial yoga and TRX, a rooftop greenhouse where residents can pot their own plants or reserve the space for intimate dinner parties and much more.

In addition to the private resident amenities, a significant amount of public open space, including the expansive one-acre front lawn, serves as the focal point of the neighborhood and hosts a variety of community programs and events. The neighborhood’s thoughtful landscape design is led by Michael Vergason Landscape Architects (MVLA), the visionary landscape architect behind the current landscapes of the Washington National Cathedral. The team’s commitment to environmentally-conscious design throughout the development process has earned the designation of LEED v4 for Neighborhood Gold certification, making City Ridge the first to do so in DC and the second nationwide.”
