Last night a reader reported around 10pm:
“possible shooting at 5th and Jefferson NW Street closed & cop looking for casings (looks like it at least).”
Other residents have been inquiring about the incident on the listserv, will update when/if MPD responds.
Also this morning readers write:
“There were at least 10 police cars on the corner and they had blocked off the Randolph Street coming off of 14th St NW. Any idea what’s going on over there? They had a fancy looking guy in a suit walking towards what I assumed was the site of the incident.”

OK so Cidery? Check. Brick Oven Pizza? Check. Revamped Jackie Lee’s Lounge? Check. Next up for Kennedy Street? Finally some info on The Library that a lot of folks have been asking about! From an email:
“A neighborhood restaurant and bar where you can browse our Persian American menu featuring kabobs, meet your community, explore new drinks, play a game or read a book.
The Library plans to be open the week of June 26th and they are currently looking for front of house staff. They can contact Meredith at [email protected].”
Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime a little taste:

Update: The menu and “adding brunch soon and he outdoor patio should be ready in a few weeks!”

Thanks to all who sent updates from the Kennedy Street Development Corporation:
“Back in early November, we spread the word that 116 Kennedy, the historic former home of Jackie Lee’s Uptown Lounge and Hofberg’s Deli, was for sale.
Well, we have some exciting news to report: Jackie Lee’s is returning in a new incarnation!
Partners Nick Schieber, Jason Crafton, and Amanda Kelsey, who have worked at various neighborhood bars throughout the District, plan to open a neighborhood tavern and restaurant under the name Jackie Lee’s (in homage to the former establishment).
Among other exciting things, we hear that there will be a horseshoe shaped bar, “smokehouse style” food, and weekend brunches.”
STAY TUNED.
