Simple Bar & Grill, a Brightwood institution for over 12 years (& located just north of Petworth on Georgia Ave) has had to close its doors. Over the years, Wilfredo and the whole Simple team tirelessly supported area families and businesses, DC’s LGBTQ+ community, local music & arts scenes, & more. As they are now faced with financial challenges due to the unexpected closure, I’ve started a GoFundMe to help with the unforeseen expenses.”
A reader shares this incredibly disturbing incident from last night around 11pm in Brightwood Park.

“I think they opened over the weekend. Just got a latte and some banana bread this morning. It’s cute, though maybe not as cute as La Coop. Definitely an asset for this section of Kennedy. I can see myself working there sometimes.”

Working Fire 5400 block 9th St NW. Well involved fire both floors in rear 2 story semi-detached dwelling. Severe threat to adjacent homes. Knocking down visible fire. No initial report of injuries.
