As you know, in the past few months, the government forcibly separated more than 2,000 immigrant children from their parents and placed them in shelters along our southern border. While that practice has ended, there’s no clear plan for reuniting those children with their families. And additional children — many seeking asylum — are now being detained, with their families, in jail-like settings.

Today in Hawks around Town – “Oh look, there’s a deer”

Hahaha not quite as exciting as the metro visit but I love the graffiti in the background. Thanks to Michael for sending: “This deer was wandering around outside our office at 16th & Colorado NW.”

“Chef Alfredo Solis announces his newest restaurant, Little Havana, slated to open this spring.

Located at 3704 14th Street NW, just a few doors down from Solis’ celebrated Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana, Little Havana will serve Cubano cuisine–Cuban food inspired by the entirety of Latin America. The menu will include soups, sandwiches, pastries, Cuban coffee, and medium-sized entrees.

At the helm of Little Havana is Chef Joseph Osorio, a chef trained at the French Culinary Institute and at the Queens, New York home of his Godmother, Mimi, a Cuban immigrant. (more…)

From MPD Thursday night:

“On today’s date at 1840 hours – Robbery Force & Violence – CCN: 18-013-992 @ 13th and Allison Streets, NW – C1 reported he was walking east in the 1300 block of Allison Street when he was approached by a male suspect wearing a mask. The suspect pushed C1 on the ground, at which time about 10 other suspects appeared and began beating C1 all over his body. The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction. – no weapons

C1 refused medical attention.

Taken from C1 during the assault was a IPhone and sneakers.

No usable look out provided at this time.”
