DC Fundraiser for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) Wednesday at Moreland’s Tavern

5501 14th Street, NW at Colorado

From Kids in Need of Defense (KIND):

Wed Jul 11, 2018 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Moreland’s Tavern
5501 14th Street, NW

Join us for a fundraiser for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), which defends the rights of child immigrants and refugees. Donate now (by buying a ticket), and then come to Moreland’s on July 11 for drinks and company!

**UPDATE: DC Brau has generously donated a keg of El Hefe Speaks to the cause! So, your first beer is on them. Many thanks to both DC Brau and Moreland’s Tavern for supporting this important cause.**

As you know, in the past few months, the government forcibly separated more than 2,000 immigrant children from their parents and placed them in shelters along our southern border. While that practice has ended, there’s no clear plan for reuniting those children with their families. And additional children — many seeking asylum — are now being detained, with their families, in jail-like settings.

The situation remains grave.

KIND is doing something about it. The organization’s staff and pro bono attorney partners are working tirelessly to reunite children with their parents, and to represent separated and unaccompanied children in deportation proceedings. They ensure that no child stands alone in court.

All you have to do to help is donate, and then grab a beer. If you can’t come, please consider donating anyway and indicate that you can not attend!

All ticket and additional donation proceeds from this event will go to KIND, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your ticket cost is your donation. Food and drink purchases will be made separately and will not count toward your donation amount. Event organizers will provide donation amounts and contact information to KIND, and the organization will send you a receipt verifying your charitable, tax-deductible donation.

If you have questions, you can contact the event organizers, Elyse Ashburn and Denne Everts, at dc4kind(at)gmail(dot)com.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
