Update from DPW:

“The Department of Public Works takes locating scofflaw vehicles and getting them off the street seriously. Parking enforcement officers are trained to inspect all vehicles, including those with car covers. The use of a car cover does not exempt a vehicle from inspection, ticketing, or further enforcement actions. We also encourage residents to submit 311 requests if they see a vehicle in violation of the city’s parking laws. Such requests are all part of the process of identifying vehicles that may pose a danger to the community and maintaining safe and accessible streets for all.”

Following a series of parking enforcement actions in 16th Street Heights that results in a number of cars with thousands of dollars of tickets being towed, there is a proliferation of cars parked on the streets completely covered by tarps. “Dear PoPville,

I was walking my dog home from the dog park in Eckington on the MBT tonight (Tuesday) at about 6:30pm. She’s a slow walker, so we were moseying, but she and I were both fully encapsulated within the northbound lane walking very straight, no unpredictable turns, stops, or straying into the other lane. It was packed and there were tons of people in the southbound lane coming toward us. So out of nowhere, a guy on his bike comes busting up on my left and yells (more…)
