Twice this week I was in a business that refused to accept cash. Once I was with a group of people in a bar and a foreign student couldn’t buy a beer because he didn’t even own cards. I bought it for him with my card. A few weeks back another group I was with in a cashless restaurant had areal ordeal with checks because a couple people had planned on using cash. Didn’t DC outlaw cashless businesses? What’s the deal here?”

Can a landlord withhold video surveillance footage of common areas in a shared tenant building? The situation is such that, some bikes were stolen from a common room area in a building and in order to file a police report and recoup some funds via renters insurance, they’ve asked for a copy of the surveillance footage. Here’s what happened: there is a young, white woman, probably in her late 20s or early 30s going door to door in Park View (at least as far as I know) to ask people to see their gas and electricity bills, claiming that someone in our block had gone over the usage limit or something like that. I was shopping for groceries at Hana Market last Friday (9/24) at about 6:30 pm. While trying to keep respectfully distanced, I did the do-si-do from aisle 1 to aisle 2 and back again with a woman (Asian) wearing a white mask and dressed in Halloween colors (black, orange/red). I’m at a bit of a standstill with regards to my apartment. I was told to vacate the apt due to a mold situation stemming from a burst pipe on 9/13. My landlord initially said they’d cover the lodging but after realizing I had renter’s insurance she said I would need to go through them. I called my insurance and the initial consultant said that it will likely be covered under the “Loss of Use”. (more…)

Seeking recommendations for treating or companies that have effectively treated a clothing moth infestation. We are in a renovated rowhouse in Petworth and have been dealing with this problem for over a year. The problem started in a bedroom closet, but we can now find moths on all three levels of the house. Help!”

There used to be a vendor selling duck in steamed Chinese buns and when I stopped by last week, he was no longer there. In addition to duck, he also offered mushrooms.
