“Dear PoPville,
Renovation of the corner house on the southeast corner of 13th and Harvard is underway. We’re delighted. Then we noticed a huge slab on the front yard. Turns out the developer was able to split the corner lot and is building a two-story apartment building in front of the majestic corner house! (more…)

Update from the Department of For-Hire Vehicles:
“The Department of For-Hire Vehicles, which regulates taxicabs, limos, and ride-hailing companies in the District, allows residents of Maryland and Virginia to operate in the District. One requirement is to display a taxi vehicle tag issued by the District. In the past, some taxicabs had tags issued both by the District and their home jurisdiction. That is why you may occasionally see taxicabs with two tags.”

A new tenant moved into the ground floor of my building who uses a wheelchair. The steps leading to the building are not handicap accessible, does anyone know if there are city grants to support access?”

“Dear PoPville,
Is this legal? The property management company for our building (we rent someone’s condo) has without warning implemented a $100 fee to use the bike storage room. The room is now controlled by fob access, and fobs won’t work until you pay the $100/bike. What’s the legality of the company just imposing a charge like this without warning? Anyone else had to deal with this?”

“Dear PoPville,
I am reaching out to you because our water bill went up…a lot. Not too long ago we had a satellite responsive water regulator installed by dc water. Things were fine until February when our bill went up to $300 (normal bill around $100) and we were out of town 20 of those 28 days. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

“Dear PoPville,
This makeshift landfill appeared just off Whitehaven Trail (behind the Safeway on Wisconsin Ave). Someone seems to be dumping and possibly sorting trash here. There’s no vehicle access, so they must be carrying the garbage bags down the trail — very strange! (more…)
