Nice! Thanks to Tom for the heads up about Rito Loco’s roof deck plans.. Bloomingdame told us on Friday: “They got a grant but still need BZA approval. Case next week.”

Looks like they’ll be ready by spring if the BZA goes through. And don’t forget they have a liquor license now, I think that went through, or at least it should by spring as well. Stay tuned:

On January 9th I posted that Chao Ku was for sale. I don’t know the details but they’ve now closed. So the curse remains despite some initial denials. On Friday City Paper reported:

“It made sense just to let it go. The road was too long,” says owner John Fielding. “We just never got the foot traffic to make it work, and we spent so much money on the buildout.”

I think the fact that I keep forgetting to post this is telling (thought they had really good reviews when they first opened) but Z Pizza closed a few weeks ago. Z Pizza opened in the old Blimpie’s space at at 8th and H St, NW back in 2011. Ed. Note: Damn, remember Blimpie’s?

Not clear who’s coming but a major renovation has already started:

“Après Ski DC
La Jambe, Shaw’s only French wine bar
1550 7th Street, NW
Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 – Sunday, February 26, 2017

In keeping with French tradition co-owners David Bloom and Anastasia Mori bring you Après Ski.

“a·près-ski: the social activities and entertainment following a day’s skiing.”

Bloom’s vision was to create a seasonal event focused on something other than the holidays. Après Ski translates to “After Ski”.

La Jambe will be transformed into a winter wonderland equipt with all the coziness and warmth you’d long for after a day on the slopes. In addition to their regular menu they will also be offering a special menu featuring raclette which is a dish comprised of three types of charcuterie and a boiled potato smothered with melted cheese.
