“another one bites the dust in Chinatown. Saw this on the California Tortilla this morning, with all the windows papered over”

California Tortilla joins RFD, Ping Pong Dim Sum and Fuddruckers as relatively recent closures in Chinatown. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

And today was a good day.

From a press release:

“Starting Wednesday, May 16, residents throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia can order Popeyes using UberEATS, an on-demand meal delivery service powered by the Uber platform.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with Popeyes to deliver their classic fried chicken and signature sides dishes in Washington, DC – with more cities rolling out soon. Uber Eats is available at 58 Popeyes restaurants in DC. For Popeye’s, Uber Eats effectively expands their capacity and reach to be able to serve a whole new network of potential customers.”

Unfortunately some sad news out of Adams Morgan. Rosario has closed “effective immediately.” They opened up back in March 2017.

Owner John Andrade says:

“Despite it’s multitude of 4 and 5 star ratings Rosario was just not able to generate enough revenue in the off peak hours to make the concept profitable. We all love this concept dearly but at the end of the day sales are what truly matters. Therefore, I have decided to close doors and prepare to rebrand as a Taqueria, my personal favorite style of food and a concept that I have long wanted to open. After all, who doesn’t like a great margarita? I hope to open within the next few months.

Back in March of last year we shared the devastating news that Duccini’s had raised their jumbo slice prices by a $1. A reader, rightly, declared “dark times.” Until yesterday that is. Thanks to Mikaela Lefrak for sharing the great news (shouts of joy could be heard all the way from Willard to Columbia Road. Seriously.) Ed. Note: It’s not clear if said screams were jumbo slice related. At any rate – rejoice!!
