Been getting a bunch of worried messages about Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan:

“The Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan has been closed for at least 5 days. Something must be up!? Thanks for any info you can provide about one of the neighborhood’s best bars.”

“do you know anything about the closure of Mellow Mushroom on 18th? There was no sign on the door but it was mysteriously closed when I went yesterday”

Readers have passed on a number of rumors including a broken water heater but apparently there aren’t any notes or notices of violations on any of the doors or windows. (more…)

As of Sunday morning I’m told they’ll be closed for “a few weeks” but I’ll be updating as the situation becomes more clear. Official word from MGM Roast Beef:

“MGM Roast Beef experienced a fire last evening. Because of the quick response and efforts of the brave men and women of the dc fire department the fire was well maintained. We hope to re-open in a few short weeks.

Thank you, DC’s bravest.

Thank you for all the calls and support from our NortheastDC community.

We are beyond grateful.”

On Saturday night at 10:14pm DCFD reported: (more…)

Thanks to Jess and Luke for sending word:

Taylor Gourmet closed their shops back in September 2018. In April Washingtonian reported:

“Taylor Gourmet’s assets–including trademarks, customer email lists, social media and domain names, and recipes–were acquired in March by a company called Source Cuisine, headed by Steve Kalifa, who works in real estate development and health care consulting. Kalifa beat out bids from fast-casual chain Cosi and Taylor Gourmet founder Casey Patten in a bankruptcy auction for the brand. Kalifa spent around $260,000 for the assets and says he has raised around $2.5 million to begin resurrecting the business.”

Stay tuned for exact opening dates – and taste tests to see how they match up to the original!
