2200 block of 14th Street, NW – Sunday

From an email:

“I am writing you on behalf of the team at Seven Reasons with an update on the restaurant. Unfortunately, as you may (or may not) be aware, a fire occurred at the bar next door to Seven Reasons over the weekend. Luckily, no one was injured, but the restaurant did suffer some minor damages.

As a result, Seven Reasons is currently closed and is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, July 30th (pending clearance from the Health Department).”

Ed. Note: I haven’t seen an update on the extent of damages at Grady’s but we’ll update when we have more there too. Their Facebook hasn’t been updated since July 10th.

In addition to its signature selection of mouthwatering tacos — like al pastor, Thai shrimp, and adobo chicken — cocktails, margaritas and sangria, the new 5,000-square-foot El Rey will feature plenty of beers on draft. (more…)

“Sad news du jour: one of my favorite downtown restaurants, @WoodwardTableDC, is closing late August after a 7-year run. “We were never able to transcend the neighborhood,” owner Jeff Buben says of the 200-seater. “It takes a lot of resources to run a restaurant like that.”

Woodward Table opened in the former Potenza space back in November 2012. Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

Any Woodward Table fans?

Back in March of 2018 we reported that a liquor license placard had been posted for a:

“New Restaurant, serving Spanish cuisine/tapas with a vegetarian infusion. Sidewalk Café with 20 seats. Total Occupancy Load is 350 with seating for 200.”

I was wondering what was happening there and was told that the deal fell through. So your dreams of dressing in the 80s are alive and well. Until another deal is done. (more…)
