Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street Will Close for Four Months for “first major repair to the historic building in over six decades”, Fear Not, There will be a “pop-up across the street at 1208 U Street to serve you during the closing.”

“Ben’s Chili Bowl U Street will temporarily close its doors at midnight on Monday, July 14th, 2025, for essential repairs and upgrades. The closure is expected to last four months, with a Grand Reopening planned for November 2025. This marks the first major repair to the historic building in over six decades. The updates will focus on preserving the integrity and heritage of the beloved space while ensuring that it remains a welcoming and safe gathering place for future generations. (more…)
